The England 498/4 in 50 overs against the Netherlands has set a new record for the greatest team total in ODI cricket. The record was set in the first ODI between the two countries at Amstelveen.
England against Australia
England has improved on their previous best of 481/6 against Australia in Nottingham in 2018. Returning to today’s play, the away side had three centurions in Phil Salt, Dawid Malan, and Jos Buttler, who brought the Dutch bowlers to task.
Buttler top-scored with 162* off 70 balls, including seven fours and 14 sixes, while Salt and Malan each struck 122 and 125.
World champions
The 50-over world champions currently have the top three highest scores, with 481/6 against Australia in Nottingham in 2018 and 444/3 against Pakistan at the same venue in 2016.
The England Test team scored 299 runs in just over two sessions this week, with the final 160 runs coming at an unbelievable strike rate of over ten.
