Government increased Food prices 3.38%

The new government increased food prices by 3.38%due to inflation

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended June 16, 2022, increased by 3.38% due to increases in the prices of food and non-food goods (PBS).

Food and non-food goods

Onions (135.31 %), diesel (132.61 %), tomatoes (117.27 %), petrol (110.16 %), vegetable ghee 1 kg (81.76 %), mustard oil (80.88 %), pulse Masoor (74.77 %), cooking oil 5 liter (71.52 %), vegetable ghee 2.5 kg (68.47 %), LPG (60.97 %), garlic (57.72 %), washing soap (52.73 %), and gents sponge chappal (51.11 %). Prices of chili powder (down 43.42 %), pulse Moong (18.06 %), sugar (10.79 %), electricity rates for Q1 (5.85 %), and Gur are also down significantly (3.35 %).

SPI increased

According to the most recent data, the SPI increased from 182.88 %).to 189.07 %). During the week ending June 9, 2022.

The SPI climbed by 2.85 %, 3.45 %, 3.10 %, 3.12 %, and 3.10 % for consumption groups up to Rs. 17,732 and Rs. 17,733 to Rs. 22,888, Rs. 22,889 to Rs. 29,517, and Rs. 29,518 to Rs. 44,175 and above Rs. 44,175 correspondingly.

According to the PBS, out of 51 items, 36 (70.59 %) increased in price, 06 (11.76 %) reduced in price. And 09 (17.65 %) remained unchanged during the week.

Food prices increased

Hi-speed diesel (28.91 percent %), gents sponge chappal Bata pair (26.76 % increase). Gents sandal Bata pair (25.02 % increase), chicken (12.10 % increase), petrol super (11.43 % increase), potatoes (6.89 % increase), electricity charges (6.63 % increase), cigarettes Capstan 20’s packet each (6.27 % increase), cooked daal (5.90 % increase), pulse gramme (5.29 % increase), cooked beef (5.19 % increase), vegetable 1 kg bag each (4.95%).

Tea prepared (4.83%), plain bread (4.37%), Lifebuoy toilet soap (4.13%), Masoor pulse (3.50%), cooking oil Dalda or any similar brand (sn), 5 litre tin each (2.87%), Sufi washing soap (2.87%) (2.33 %), 2.24 % mustard oil, 1.93 % vegetable ghee Dalda/Habib 2.5 kg tin each, 1.71 % pulse Mash, 1.50 % beef with bone, 1.39 % rice irri-6/9, 1.04 % energy saver, 1.01 %  curd, 0.89 % mutton, 0.85 % eggs, salt powdered (0.79 % ), lawn printed Gul Ahmed/Al Karam (0.77 % ), basmati broken (0.68 % ), garlic (0.59 (0.09 %).

Price reductions

Onions (5.20 %), wheat flour bag 20 kg (2.19 %), LPG (1.32 %), bananas (0.83 %), Gur (0.45 %). And sugar are among the commodities that have seen price reductions (0.02 %).
